Practice
Albert has a broad civil and commercial practice, with an emphasis on shareholders’ disputes, company, property, contract, probate, and employment litigation.

Prior to joining Chambers, Albert obtained his LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science, ranking 1st in the Principles of International Contracts course.  He obtained his LLB and PCLL from The University of Hong Kong, winning various mooting competitions and both subject prizes in Trial Advocacy.

Ryder Industries Ltd v. Chan Shui Woo & Timely Electronics Co Ltd (2015) 18 HKCFAR 544:  Leading authority by the CFA on the defence of foreign illegality arising out of the performance in the PRC of a contract governed by HK law (led by Edward Chan SC and with Simon Chiu).
 
Balram Chainrai v. Israel Sorin Shochat & Ors (HCA 1462/2014):  Application to set aside an order for service out of the jurisdiction which considered the issue of submission to jurisdiction (led by Russell Coleman SC and with Lawrence Cheung).
 
Wong Chun Kit & Wong Pui Kwan (Suing on behalf of Madera) & Anor v. Cheng Kwong Fat & Ors  (HCA 1705/2017):  Obtained a Mareva injunction on behalf of the minority shareholders in a derivative action and in their application for a Wallersteiner Order.
 
Pollard Construction Co Ltd v. Lee Kwong Kong & To Chun Yin (DCCJ 5635/2016):  Obtained a stay of an employment dispute between the principal and sub-contractor of a large construction project in favour of arbitration.
 
Property
The IO of Freder Centre v. Gringo Ltd & Anor [2016] 2 HKLRD 190:   An appeal to the CA in relation to an occupier’s use of the external wall in breach of the DMC which considered the defence of acquiescence (with Paul Wu).
 
The IO of Tone King Building v. Topglee Ltd & Anor (HCMP 1463/2016):  Opposed applications for leave to appeal in both the Lands Tribunal and the CA, which considered the defence of waiver of breach of DMC and whether damages were an adequate remedy.
 
Wong Chong Kwai Yin v. Tsang Hau Ling & Ors (HCA 939/2005):  Opposed an application to strike-out the claim in adverse possession for want of prosecution (with Andrew Mak).
 
Companies
David Moy v. The Official Receiver [2018] 1 HKLRD 1:  Opposed a contributory’s application to stay the winding-up of the Company permanently.
 
Re: Big Ascent Technology Limited (HCCW 321/2014):  Opposed an application to strike-out a creditor’s petition on the ground that a bona fide dispute existed and obtained an order for winding-up thereafter.
 
Re: Weita Packing Material International Group Company Limited (HCCW 184/2008):  Obtained a permanent stay of the winding-up of the Company on behalf of the contributories.
 
Re: Boden Limited (HCCW 365/2017):  Obtained the appointment of provisional liquidators on behalf of the minority shareholders in a petition for the winding-up of the company based on just and equitable grounds.
 
Civil Litigation
Lok Man Sin v. Lam Chi Wing (HCMP 735/2018):  Obtained a stay of proceedings brought by a beneficiary against an administrator for the distribution of the deceased’s estate until the resolution of separate proceedings which challenged the validity of the deceased’s will.
 
Sin Kam Kwai v. The Inter-Departmental Working Group (Case No. AB 0034):  Acted for the Appellant in an appeal before the Fishermen Claims Appeal Board (Trawl Ban) which held that the formulae/assumption in the calculation of compensation to the Appellant was fundamentally flawed.
